It is lightning season.

According to the Insurance Information Institute, lightning strike claims are on the rise, increasing 39 percent for U.S. insurers in 2008. Property insurers lost more than $1 billion in 2008 from lightning-related claims, which cost an average of $4,329 per claim last year.
